How I got
here
I got into programming in 6th grade, when we started learning Pascal at school. Even then I knew exactly which field I'd study at university. Nobody knew yet how the IT industry would develop or that it would come to hold the position it has today. So it was a choice made with the heart, not a cold calculation.
In my last years of school I launched my own small websites, and through hands-on experience I understood, step by step, why certain tools were needed. At first I used the simplest development methods, ran into the limits of the technology, wanted to build something bigger, found more convenient tools — and the cycle repeated.
I have great respect for craftsmanship. When someone works in one field for many years and builds up experience solving hundreds of different problems, complex work becomes everyday routine.
At university (KBTU) I mostly learned proper architecture, since I already had the applied, hands-on knowledge. But my most valuable takeaway was starting commercial work alongside other strong, senior students. They were true geeks in the best sense of the word. Working with them shaped the level of drive needed to actually reach your goals.
